HSBC Survey: As tariff uncertainty eases, ASEAN becomes priority market for Indonesian businesses

HSBC Indonesia reaffirmed its role in providing international trade insights through a media briefing presenting the findings of the HSBC Global Trade Pulse 2 survey on 9 December 2025. During the session, Delia Melissa, Country Head of Global Trade Solutions HSBC Indonesia, highlighted that 69% of Indonesian companies believe the trade war could have a positive impact in the next two years. This reflects the strong adaptability of Indonesian businesses to geopolitical shifts and evolving global trade dynamics.

ASEAN has emerged as the primary focus for expansion among Indonesian companies. The survey shows that 92% of businesses plan to expand internationally, with 58% prioritising ASEAN markets to strengthen supply chains and drive sales growth. This optimism is reinforced by the fact that 67% of companies expect an increase in revenue over the next two years, although liquidity challenges remain a key concern, particularly regarding working capital needs.

HSBC Indonesia stands ready to support these growth ambitions through its robust trade finance solutions. Delia Melissa emphasised that international banking plays a crucial role in helping companies manage risks and plan for cross-border expansion. With more than 140 years of experience, HSBC is committed to providing strategic insights, services, and advisory support to help Indonesian businesses strengthen their position in global markets.
