HBSC help improve livelihoods of the communities in Bogor
HSBC Indonesia took part in a housing and sanitation programme organized by Habitat for Humanity Indonesia (HFHI) in Kecamatan Gunung Putri, Kabupaten Bogor, supporting families living in unsafe, overcrowded homes and without private toilets. The work focuses on safer housing, healthier living conditions and dignified sanitation, prioritising vulnerable low-income informal-sector households earning below the regional minimum wage, including female-headed families.
That commitment came to life during CEO Build 2026, held in Wanaherang Village, Gunung Putri, where leaders stepped out of boardrooms and onto build sites. Steve Andoko, HBID Banking Director, joined as a volunteer as part of the project agenda—rolling up his sleeves alongside other participants to support build activities ranging from foundation-stage work to wall construction. Beyond the tools and teamwork, the day created space for something just as important: meeting beneficiaries and seeing first-hand how a stable home and a lockable latrine can reduce health risks and strengthen everyday resilience for families.
At its core, the programme aims to construct 45 adequate homes with proper sanitation and reach approximately 200 beneficiaries, while also training participating families in basic construction skills, home and sanitation maintenance, and good hygiene practices. It’s a practical model: build with families, not just for them—so the result isn’t only a new house, but stronger self-reliance for the years ahead.
